Apollo Theatre Honours Etta James & Lionel Richie

March 9, 2012 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-Ellis

Etta James and Lionel Richie are set to be the next lot of stars inducted into the Apollo Hall of Fame and it wouldn’t be done properly if there wasn’t a lavish ceremony to go with it.

The NYC theatre began as a home to mainly African-American performers who graced the stage with their talent at the famous ‘Showtime At The Apollo’ nights, which was a long-running TV programme as well as a stage show. Since then it’s nice to know that the roots of the building haven’t been forgotten as it was a stepping stone for many artists to perform at this popular venue before super stardom, including stars such as Michael Jackson, James Brown and Jimi Hendrix.

The Apollo Theatre is one of the most famous music halls in the US and it is full of music legends who have had a huge impact on the music industry. Now Etta James and Lionel Richie will be honoured in the same light as past superstars.

Congratulations to the pair!
