August 1, 2017 | D&LBig news! Russell Simmons is bringing a fully revamped series of his popular series, Def Comedy Jam, to HBO.
His original seasons raised such a huge platform for comedians, as well as bringing a much-loved show to his audiences that people continue to speak on today.
Now, he will be returning to the network with All Def Comedy, a season that will be made up of six shows and it will be hosted by none other than Tony Rock.
As executive producer, Simmons will be working on bringing the best comedians together to produce an unforgettable series.
As well as some Def Comedy veterans making an appearance, he will also continue to create a platform for on-the-rise comedians who are ready to make their mark on the famous stage.
When speaking on his new project, Simmons said: “I have witnessed firsthand how the most cutting-edge, seemingly alternative comics become the driving forces in mainstream comedy. I’m thankful to HBO for allowing me to give these new voices access to mainstream audiences everywhere.”
Once the show is filmed in front of a live studio audience on October 10th and 11th in Los Angeles, the show will then be aired in December.
Simmons is well known for many entrepreneurial projects, with creating many fashion lines, being the CEO of Rush Communications and co-founder of Def Jam Recordings naming just a small portion of the work he has created.
We’re sure this reboot will be just as successful!
