October 7, 2013 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-EllisThe weekend’s celebration for the Miss P Foundation was a great night out for all involved at Oxford’s New Theatre.
The fifth annual fundraiser saw hundreds support in the crowd and record numbers hit the stage, as the likes of Raw Diva, KC’s School of Dance and Miss P Performers debuted their pieces all in the name of ‘Celebration’, with the inclusion of new faces Steventon Tappers, MWB Dance, guests Urban Strides and more!
With a first half dedicated to the Miss P Summer School, the children aged 4-14 took the audience on a ‘magical journey’ of story telling, with the grandparents taking their grandchildren and viewers down memory lane with their love for the theatre.
With extracts from Bugsy Malone, Fame, West Side Story, Grease, Mary Poppins and Soul Sister (the life of Tina Turner), the energetic dance pieces and odes to musicals by the children made for a cute and memorable performance by all.
With Miss P herself, Portia Harry giving a flawless performance of Jennifer Hudson’s ‘Love You I Do’, it was the perfect touch for the night as she completed her Soul Sister tour and returned for the momentous occasion.
Fittingly going out with Kool & The Gang’s ‘Celebration’, the hard work, preparation and co-operation by all involved resulted in a great fifth birthday night for Oxford and the arts.
‘If you’re aged 5+ or know of those who would like to join the Miss P Performers family, come on down to R&R Studio’s, Blackbird Leys Oxford every Thursday 5pm-6.15pm for fun with contemporary, jazz and street dance. Whether for fun, performance or skills training, all are welcome for just £2 a class (contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org).’
