February 7, 2013 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-EllisYou can pretty much mix fashion with anything these days; fashion and music, fashion and photography, fashion and business – there are endless possibilities. But today we’re focusing our minds to fashion and technology, as sponsor of New York Fashion Week, Samsung Electronics and Alexander Wang will be doing a collaboration this year.
The New York based designer and the giant technology brand have come up with the industry’s first co-created print. Their print designs will come from sketches and images inspired by the public, which they will be creating on the Galaxy Note II. How fancy!
In order to get a wide variety of prints, Wang will also be getting involved by encouraging his own friends, stylists, photographers and very well-known and experienced figures in the industry to put their thoughts into design. From there, he will then collectively put all ideas together to produce the final print.
So where can you check out the final print? Well you’ll have to act fast as it will appear on a limited edition bag, which will be available to buy at all key markets worldwide. And in the name of charity, all proceeds will go towards Art Start; ‘a charity that uses the arts to nurture the creative talents of at-risk children and youth’.
Here’s what Alexander Wang had to say on his latest project: “I am most inspired from my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting.
“This collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can come together. And, through a concerted effort, I am happy to be a part of supporting such a great charity as Art Start, that embraces creativity and art in a way that can change lives.â€
Note: ‘Samsung will host a VIP lounge at New York Fashion Week where media can take advantage of work stations, internet, and battery replacements during the shows’.
Don’t forget we are also streaming New York Fashion Week live so make sure you tune in!
