May 2, 2014 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-EllisCreating plans for your UK bank holiday this weekend is DJ David Rodigan.
The MBE award winning DJ will be at Oxford’s Art Bar on Sunday May 4th for an evening of Reggae and Dancehall music, the genre he came to love from an early age and has specialised in ever since.
Having received entry into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame and an MBE for his services to broadcasting, today the British radio DJ can be heard on his weekly Sunday night show on BBC 1Xtra, as he continues to share and educate all on the history and culture of Jamaican music, a love which started for him on hearing Millie Smalls’ ‘My Boy Lollipop’.
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining BBC Radio 1Xtra where I can share my passion for both new cutting-edge reggae and classic cuts, reflecting a genre of music which continues to play a paramount role in urban bass culture music,” he said of his new slot.
With a career playing on stations such as Radio London, Kiss 100 and BBC Radio 2 and starting his craft at the age of 15, a great night is to be had. Plus look out for David and his return to Radio 2 in the summer.
