March 5, 2012 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-EllisAs it’s third series came to a close yesterday, Irish tap dancing group Prodijig were last night crowned the winners of Got To Dance, following in the footsteps of previous winners Akai and Chris & Wes.
Beating theatrical dance group Fear of the Unknown and contemporary/ballet duo Tayleur and Elliott, the tappers are the first act outside of Street dance to be crowned Sky TV’s winners, as they performed rhythmical pieces with their speedy footwork in the forte of 1/3 of the judges dance genre of tap- Adam Garcia.
There was tough competition as the level of talent and passion shown by all semi-finalists was definitely at its highest branching across all three seasons, as competitors came back bigger and better each time the stage called.
One clear favourite was street group Unity UK who pride themselves on representing the positive side of East London and their city and the UK as a whole. With a powerful leader in the form of Tashan Muir, their concepts, stunts and choreography continued to amaze until the end. Check them out wowing the judges the first time we saw them below.
