Happy Birthday Aaliyah: Remembering Baby Girl

Happy Birthday Aaliyah: Remembering Baby Girl

January 16, 2016 | D&L

Who else is playing their favourite Aaliyah songs and albums today? Not just us then.

Whenever a famous singer dies at a young age, it always makes you think what effect they would have had on the music industry if they were still producing songs today. But there is no doubt in our minds that Aaliyah would be at a phenomenal stage in her career as her time spent on earth was already greatly spent.

With the release of three albums (Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number, One In A Million and Aaliyah), movie roles (including Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned), modelling and dance history, Aaliyah would have easily built her status as this was all achieved at the young age of 22.

Today, singers start out building their career, then venture out into different roles once they’ve made a name for themselves. Imagine Aaliyah taking over your TV screens hosting her own show or producing records for up and coming artists; she did work with the incredible duo of Missy Elliott and Timbaland after all.

Unfortunately we can only wonder, but it’s amazing to see and hear how relevant Aaliyah’s music still is after almost 15 years of her passing. On that note, we will leave you with the first track of Aaliyah’s that we ever heard – Hot Like Fire (Remix).
