February 11, 2015 | D&LOlivier Rousteing is a popular French designer who is currently the Creative Director of Balmain and since he had the honour of taking this position, he hasn’t made a wrong move since.
At a young age and still in his 20’s, Olivier developed an eye for fashion and studied the subject to learn even more about his passion for fashion.
One of the successful moves Olivier did last year was collaborating with Kanye and Kim Kardashian West, to front the new SS15 Balmain campaign and what a huge reception that received!
2014 was a huge year for the pair – especially as they had graced the cover of Vogue magazine – so to collaborate with such huge profile people in the music and reality world, was a very smart move on Olivier and Balmain’s part.
Using his intense attention to detail and a creative mind, Olivier knows how to use his talent wisely as the head designer and with a great legacy to continue – from the founder, Pierre Balmain – there is no denying that this haute couture fashion house is in safe hands.
Before his work with Balmain, Olivier began his career as designer at Roberto Cavalli after he graduated. Here he was the head of the women’s division and he has since contributed to the striking stripes, structured and bright tones that Balmain has to offer.
Plus, remember Olivier is working on bringing Balmain to London! The flagship store will be the first Balmian store to be opened outside of Paris.
“London is a very important city for Balmain,” said Olivier. “We have always had a very loyal clientele so it all came very naturally.”
