London Fashion Week (LFW) is fast approaching and the designers are working tirelessly to make sure their shows run like clockwork for one of the biggest fashion events this season!
Amongst the busyness, we caught up with Indian fashion designer, Rocky Star, who has dressed stars including Beyonce and Priyanka Chopra, as well as styling and designing costumes for over 300 films.
Here’s what he had to say about the build up to LFW, what to expect from his designs this season and why he is feeling anxious about bringing his Fashion Week dream to reality.
L’ART: What shall we expect from your London Fashion Week show this season?
Rocky: “This season you are in for a surprise! I am showcasing something very different as compared to my previous seasons at London Fashion Week. While I am still staying true to my aesthetic and Indian roots, I am making a statement with the outfits and look. It is definitely bold, strong and still incredibly beautiful; just like the women I design for.”
L’ART: You continue to amaze people with your designs. Where do you draw inspiration from when creating a new range?
Rocky: “Fashion like any form of art is a medium of self-expression. My creations are a tangible form of my thoughts and inspirations that are derived from my journey as a person and as a designer.”
L’ART: Will you be attending any fashion shows yourself and whose collection are you looking forward to seeing?
Rocky: “I will be attending a few shows… I am still deciding on which ones.”
L’ART: What are you most looking forward to about Fashion Week?
Rocky: “Everything! It is such an exciting time.
“It has been one of my dreams to showcase my work at such a prestigious platform, and then to have my work appreciated and be given so much love! I am so grateful!
“My team and I have been working very hard over the past couple of months so I am quite anxious, nervous and excited to see it come alive this September!”
… and we’re excited to witness his vision come to life!
Catch Rocky Star’s show on Saturday September 16th at 5.30pm (Freemasons’ Hall, London).
