May 25, 2017 | D<here are just two days to go until the Common People Festival hits Oxford for its second year, now making the popular gathering an annual event.
With big names coming to Oxford, as well as Southampton for the weekend, we caught up with local Oxford group, Young Women’s Music Project, who are performing on Sunday at 2pm, on the Uncommon Stage…
L’ART: What are you most looking forward to about hitting such a stage in your home town?
YWMP: This is the second time we have performed on the Uncommon Stage. This time around we are looking forward to performing a little later on [in] the bill and celebrating the fact that we are BBC Introducing Act Of The Year, by pushing our set up a notch. This is an amazing opportunity for the young women to show case what they have been working so hard on over the past few months.
L’ART: What can festival goers expect from your performance?
YWMP:We have a three part set; Team Drum are opening – a drum troupe which includes two full drum kits, additional snares and bass drums, so expect some big rhythms there. Followed by two featured acoustic artists who will be accompanied by full bands, Suzy Bowtell and Anna McCrae.
L’ART: Where can listeners hear more of your music?
YWMP: You can check out some songs on our soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/ywmpoxford but more current clips of what we are up to are on our Instragram; ywmpoxford
L’ART: Who are you looking forward to seeing hit the stage?
YWMP: Personally I am most excited to see The Selecter, Pauline Black is a big inspiration!
