November 27, 2013 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-EllisFrom the years of Motown to hosting his own segment on Sound Fusion radio, Spec Turner has experienced an amazing music career and things aren’t slowing down any time soon.
Spec was a member of the New Jack Swing group, Basic Black, who provided their audience with classic hits such as ‘Nothing But A Party’, ‘Whatever It Takes’ and ‘She’s Mine’. Since then, Spec has been working on building his skills by getting into songwriting and producing.
It is with those skills that he worked towards collaborating with stars such as Whitney Houston, Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg and Missy Elliott on various tracks.
“I always had a love for sound and music so it was inevitable that I would be led to produce music,” said Spec. “I have been so fortunate to have worked with some great people and I cherish this dream that God has placed in me.”
On discovering his number of successful projects and since creating an even popular radio show attracting a new audience for his work, we caught up with the Atlanta based music composer and got to know a little bit more about the man behind the music.
Check back with us on December 2nd in issue 17 as we find out who Spec chose as his number one artist to work with, which stand-out UK artists he has his eye on to work with, how he made Sound Fusion radio an offer they simply couldn’t refuse and the people he had to give a shout-out to!
