January 4, 2013 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-Elliset for release in early Summer, the film The Great Gatsby is one that many are looking forward to, now even more so with the news that rap great Jay-Z is involved in the production of the soundtrack and leading singles.
With sources close to the rap icon using the words ‘dope’ and ‘excited’ when describing the future releases, you know there’s something to be looking forward to and with the responsibility of providing a ‘score’ for a movie comes the ability to further bring out emotion from an audience as well as emphasise action and feelings felt on screen. It’s no doubt Jay can succeed in the challenge of creating one of today’s classics.
Originally set for release this year but held back for production purposes, The Great Gatsby focuses on the story of wealthy Americans from the 1920’s and is based on the book made famous by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The Baz Luhrmann production includes actors Leonardo Di Caprio and Tobey Maguire to capture the essence of the ‘great American novel’ set post WW1. In the past, there have been television and film adaptations of the novel favourite, but 2013’s release has promised to give an updated remake, catching the flavour of the period.
