June 8, 2017 | D&LReggae/Dancehall artist, Kabaka Pyramid, is doing it big in 2017, as he shares new music, an album release, PLUS an upcoming UK tour!
‘Can’t Breathe’ is the new release from the artist and will act as the first single from his upcoming album release, Contraband.
Kabaka Pyramid will be celebrating a lot of firsts as Contraband will be his first full length project, with the first single featuring Bebble Rock and Ghetto Youths. Listeners can also expect production credits from Genis Nadal and Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley.
Blending his Hip Hop sounds and thought provoking lyricism with an island sound, Kabaka Pyramid’s talent as an artist, paired with his hard hitting, lyrical messages has seen him described as one of Jamaica’s finest exports.
As he tackles the issue of a polluted system in the new single release, the pain and stresses that come with it for the people are at the focal point in the track. From ‘feeding the minds with polluted information, feeding the souls with toxic nutrition, and filling the streets with deadly drugs’, Kabaka Pyramid addresses it all
Inspired by lyricist and artist, Lauryn Hill, Kabaka Pyramid recalls on a time that her music and being really struck a chord with him.
“I was watching Lauryn Hill Unplugged and I was struck by the emotions she put in her songs and I wanted the people that listen to this song, get that same feeling,” he explained.
“The stress and strain of the system and the mental pollution we are fed day to day reminds me of feeling claustrophobic and suffocated.”
Keep an eye out for his upcoming Summer UK and European tour dates coming soon, along with an album release date.
