June 5, 2015 | D&LWith her goal to keep the Sausage movement going whilst preaching a safe sex message at the same time, Lil Mama is still the female artist on everyone’s lips a week after her surprise music reveal.
‘Sausage’ had social media in a frenzy last week, as the female rapper added her two cents to the original Vine inspired trend, started by Matthew Belamy.
With a mixed bag of comments received, including thoughts of praise and shout outs from celebrities alike, to negative feelings of ‘ripping off’ Matthew and ‘stealing’ his creativity, whatever your view, you can’t deny Lil Mama’s talent, high energy performance and homage to Hip Hop greats in this production.
Whether it be through her lyrical content, use of music beats or her dance choreography throughout, this young artist has taken a movement to a larger scale, along with a fun vibe and positive message, whilst giving props to her idols all at the same time. These include Missy Elliott, MC Lyte, Mary J. Blige, Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick.
Keeping it current, she also drops a few lines from some of today’s catchy Hip Hop hooks.
Whatever the situation between Lil Mama and Matthew, they have both been heavily involved in something that has now seen heavy rotation on the music circuit, driving forward a message that will stay in the minds of many and this is down to the memorable chorus; ‘eggs, bacon, grits, sausage’. We’re definitely focusing on all the positives over here. Here’s hoping the ill feelings are squashed and both reap the rewards.
