October 7, 2014 | D&LHaving put production and casting issues aside, the first look into the Aaliyah biopic has been revealed.
With Alexandra Shipp taking on the lead role of ‘The Princess Of RnB’, talk show host and radio presenter Wendy Williams also shares executive producer credits on the upcoming Lifetime show.
Although the Lifetime movie is set to air next month, the family’s feelings about the movie going ahead are still not thought to be 100%.
“The family is not happy that the movie is being done but we did it so tastefully. I think the family would be proud,” Wendy said. “We’re not throwing anybody under the bus.”
Sadly the RnB singer and actress lost her life in a plane crash at the age of 22 in August 2001. However, during her life she made great accomplishments, as well as hit making relationships with the likes of R.Kelly, Missy Elliott and Timbaland. With three studio albums and roles in movies such as Romeo Must Die and Queen Of The Damned, her timeless voice and 90s vibe is often revisited by the masses.
The biopic Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B is due to air November 15th, 8pm ET.
