Lupita Nyong’o Has Struggled With Her Rise To Fame?

February 12, 2014 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-Ellis

It’s been a rollercoaster of events for actress Lupita Nyong’o ever since she wrapped her film 12 Years A Slave. She has received much praise for her role in the movie and has since won an award for Best Supporting Actress at this years Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

But it seems that the positive feedback doesn’t stop there. Lupita has been nominated at the Golden Globes, the BAFTA’s and for an Academy Award, but even greater news came this week where she received an Oscar nomination!

When hearing of the news Lupita said: “I had a very good cry with my best friend, and then we had a dance party, just me and him.” What a way to celebrate!

It’s her down-to-earth manner that attracts people to Lupita’s warm character off screen, but the actress has recently admitted that she has struggled to come to terms with her new-found fame, especially when it comes to her encounters with the paparazzi.

“I don’t know who they were waiting for, but they definitely chased me down, which is a startling, disturbing experience. I did not expect it. I went into flight mode. I was blissfully ignorant of the magnitude of the project I was in or what it was going to mean for the world.”

Well we’re sure that after that eye opener she will be a little more aware of just how much of an impact she has had in the industry.
