January 28, 2014 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-EllisHave you ever thought about going for the more luxurious look when choosing a pair of trainers? Well, you might be even more tempted than you think once you catch a glimpse of this up and coming range from Riccardo Tisci.
He recently unveiled his debut collection for Nike and believe me, they aren’t your typical pair of trainers. Tisci has decided to take the much loved and a common favourite – the Air Force 1 – and has created four pairs of trainers that have been inspired by ‘the sport brand’s most celebrated style’.
This is the first time that Tisci has collaborated with a high street label and the results are certainly creative. Here’s how he came up with the concept. “The shoe is universal yet somehow very personal,” said Tisci. “I travel all over the world, and I see people wearing the Air Force 1, and they wear it in so many different ways.
“And so I was thinking, what is the essence of the Air Force 1? And how do I take that essence and make my own statement? For me the Air Force 1 is not about gender, it’s not about a particular city, nor is it about a certain style. The community decides. It’s democratic. It’s love.”
The first style from the collection will launch in March with all designs being in white, then those in black will follow in April. Expect to see some extravagant designs plus some mid-calf and knee-high styles for the more elaborate male and adventurous female.
Look out for that launch!
