March 3, 2015 | D<oddla T meets Protoje, as the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJ (also known as the ‘Sheffield legend’) has teamed up with the ‘man of the moment in Reggae’, for the new mixtape, which sees England Meet Jamaica.
Presenting England Be Wise – taking a play on words of Protoje’s ‘Kingston Be Wise’ track – the new release sees Jamaica and Grime music meet Reggae, Dubstep and Drum & Bass, as the pair blend various genres of music to create an addictive, new sound.
The new mixtape sees Protoje spitting over tracks such as Skepta’s ‘That’s Not Me’, Krept & Konan’s ‘Don’t Waste My Time’, Schoolboy Q’s ‘Collared Greens’ and Jungle track, ‘The Burial’, to name a few and the result? The creation of ‘a one-off, eclectic, zestful tape full of gems that you’ll only hear once in a lifetime’.
No doubt we’ve all wanted to bring the Jamaican Reggae sunshine to our lives during the colder seasons, but how exactly did this working relationship come about?…
“I was such a fan of him anyway, this was a great project to get my hands on because I get to indulge in what he does,” said Toddla T. “The whole UK vs Jamaica thing has been prominent in our music and culture for years and years so all I’m doing is doing my spin on it… an honour to work with such a great artist from Jamaica.”
The best part is the project is available for free download. Get your copy today.
Protoje’s new album Ancient Future will be available as of March 10th.
