A few months ago it was announced that Nick and Mariah were working on a book together (Roc & Roe’s Twelve Days Of Christmas, due out in October) which featured their twin toddlers, Monroe and Moroccan and now, Nick is taking his writing career to a whole other level; he’s publishing his very own book!
He’s working on a range of poetry books with publisher, Scholastic and the first project will be titled Neon Aliens Ate My Homework and Other Poems, scheduled for release in March 2015.
The Neon Aliens poetry book is said to feature work from some well known street artists, who have put together some black and white illustrations reflecting Nick’s desire to combine the worlds of poetry and hip hop.
“Writing is at the centre of everything I do as an artist,” said Nick. “Doing creative writing – especially writing poetry – is when I felt the calmest and freest. As a kid , it was my escape from the inner-city pitfalls.
“When I was eight years old, I got a spiral notebook and wrote my first poem/ rap. I filled that notebook with poems, rhymes, jokes and witty stories. I still keep one to this day.
“I hope that poems in Neon Aliens will help inspire kids to want to get out a pen and paper to write or draw their own thoughts, rhymes and stories.”
