March 17, 2015 | D&LHave you ever heard a song for the first time and instantly knew it would be a favourite? That’s the feeling we got when we first listened to Ben Khan’s latest track ‘1000’, and it’s set to be a huge song for the Summer playlist.
With an electronic meets dance feel to it (and a slight flashback to Kelis’ track ‘Millionaire’), Ben sings over the track in a cool and slick way that reminds you of the energetic performers that would perform on stage in clubs back in the day.
But as we’re in the year 2015, that sound has evolved into a ‘mash-up’ of many musical influences. The accompanying synths, bass and funk tones all help towards making this track one to remember from the moment you press play.
Now, this may be the latest track from Ben, but this isn’t the first track he has released. You may have come across his music last year when he dropped his EP, titled 1992, which is when we were first introduced to his like to blend ‘inventive electronic soul and blues, bruised nocturnal funk and reimagined, angular pop’.
From then he has been noted as iTunes’ Artist For 2015 and making an impressive impression on Spotify, Soundcloud and YouTube with millions of plays of his tracklisting.
His new EP – titled 1000 – will be released on May 11th and his new single of the same name is a great opener to the complete upcoming project.
