Round Two: Stella McCartney To Design Team GB Olympic Kits For Rio

July 24, 2014 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-Ellis

For the 2012 Olympic Games that took place in London, designer Stella McCartney had the honour and pleasure of designing the kits for the Great British team and she has been asked back for the same job for 2016!

In two years time, the Olympic Games will take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and thousands of people worldwide will once again be able to see the Great British team sport another Stella McCartney exclusive. For her last collaborative project, she had to produce kits for 900 British Olympic and Paralympic athletes who were – between them – competing in 46 sports.

That resulted in Stella having to produce 590 different pieces of clothing with various sizes to cater to the entire team! Talk about a huge job, but she is certainly up for the challenge. After teaming up with Adidas in 2012, she was asked if she would like to have the opportunity to produce the kit, she replied: “I’d love to, I’d do it forever and ever.”

It looks like she got her wish!
