Style Steal: The Return Of The Platform

March 9, 2015 | D&L

Following our latest post on Spring footwear, we couldn’t help but notice another huge trend that has made a return to the fashion world. Now, this isn’t a new style of shoe, but it has certainly made its mark in many eras and the year 2015 is no different. Yes, we’re talking about the platform shoe!

Back in the 60’s and through to the 80’s, the platform shoe was a huge hit with men and women and along with the flared jeans, afros, waistcoats and fringed jackets were many variations of platform shoes, sandals and heels.

Now, you won’t really see any platforms for the men, but there are many options for the ladies to choose from with metallic, snake print, pop colours and mule shapes included.

Platforms are a great alternative when accessorising your shoes with your outfit, especially if you want a break from your block heels or stilettos.

Just remember one thing when choosing a platform for your look; go for a more chunky platform when your outfit is more on the casual side and save the delicate platforms to match your bodycon dresses.

Take your pick from our Topshop favourites today.
