January 13, 2016 | D&LAre you in on this new #MakeAPromise campaign? If not, you certainly should be. Why? Because with your help, children in urgent need will benefit from your care and generosity, plus you receive a unique Louis Vuitton design in the process.
#MakeAPromise has already raised a lot of awareness as the campaign is promoted by Louis Vuitton, who teamed up with UNICEF to launch a global initiative. The goal is to raise funds through the sales of these simplistic ‘Silver Lockit’ pendants and bracelets and with every one sold, $200 of the $500 purhcase price will be donated to UNICEF.
Each ‘Lockit’ was inspired by George’s Vuitton original lock design from 1890 and by buying one, you’re making a pinky promise (and a donation) to support and spread the word of this incredible campaign.
“UNICEF is a strong and reliable leader in humanitarian action. Together, we can make a real difference to children in the most vulnerable situations,” says Michael Burke, CEO of Louis Vuitton.
“Our goal is to reach as many people as possible, ask them to share our promise and to make a real difference.”
What can you do to help? Either show your support online through the digital campaign with a pinkie photo and #MakeAPromise; make a donation to the cause; or purchase a bracelet or necklace, which will also create an immediate donation.
The fact that this campaign is based around a pinky promise is so significant because the ‘pinky promise’ reminds you of something a child would say and what that promise means to that child is so heartfelt. So we love that the voice of a child has inspired this.
As Michael continues to say: “When children make a promise, they take it seriously. These are promises that come straight from the heart. The pinky promise is an instinctive and sincere way to seal a promise and to share it with someone else.”
Mariah Carey, David Beckham, Heidi Klum and Selena Gomez are just a handful of celebrities who have already made their promise. So who will you be sharing your promise with?
