Throwback Thursday: Charlie Wilson

July 4, 2013 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-Ellis

Following the incredible performance Charlie gave at the BET Awards 2013, this weeks Throwback Thursday choice was definitely an easy one.

As Charlie was being honoured with the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement award, he did his thing on stage – alongside Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Snoop Dogg – and proved exactly why he deserved to be praised for his many years of work in the music industry.

From his days as the lead singer in The Gap Band, to his striving solo career and even offering his knowledge, skills and advice to his fellow, younger artists, Charlie is one of the greatest singers, songwriters and record producers that the R&B world have come across.

Other awards that Charlie has received include the Soul Train Icon award and a BMI award. He has also been named number 1 adult R&B artist in Billboard magazine and the same magazine named Charlie’s hit song ‘There Goes My Baby’ as number 1 urban adult song in the same year.

‘Uncle’ Charlie Wilson, we salute you! Here is ‘There Goes My Baby’.
