March 19, 2015 | D&LFrom music artists in the business, to the stars on TV, Timbaland continues to be celebrated for his recent work ahead of his upcoming album release, Opera Noir.
Empire has been the television show on everyone’s lips as of late, with the Fox show allowing Timbaland to be creative with his latest role, one that has seen him create a number one soundtrack for a TV show. Now that’s rare!
From working with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Drake, Missy Elliott and Aaliyah, Empire has seen the rapper, producer and Executive Producer of the show ‘re-invent’ himself, as he feels right at home in a show set in the world of hip-hop and the music business (featuring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard).
Already renewed for a second season, guest stars have included Estelle, Gladys Knight, Raven Symone, Snoop Dogg and Juicy J.
Did you know show creator Lee Daniels expressed his want to work with Timbaland when the producer approached him to work on his new album? The situation turned into Lee wanting Timbaland for his new show! “I thought that this show could really be something. There’s nothing out there like this, and it came out at the perfect time,” he said.
Currently producing Tink and singer V.Bozeman, the man of the moment hints at the two bringing a combined sound of Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott and Whitney Houston feel to his new project.
“What I’m trying to find are these young people who have the same hunger and passion I once had and still have, and pass it on to the future. I feel I can be a mentor and help make new music that will break through some of the garbage.
“When music starts to fall off the path, with dumbness and flashiness, well, it’s my job to set a tone, a foundation. If you want quality music, come up on the Timbaland side of the street.”
Here’s a throwback, Timbo style.
