Tinie Tempah announces launch of YOUTH pop up store

April 3, 2017 | D&L

This week will see Tinie Tempah launch his own pop up store, where he will preview his new album, YOUTH.

Taking place at the New Inn Yard in Shoreditch, on Friday April 7th, the UK artist will blend his love and work for the arts of music and fashion, as he uses the store to reflect the album’s themes. Featuring a nostalgic collection of shops and displays, the store will reflect different elements of Tinie’s own upbringing, giving us further insight into what it was like for him growing up in London.

“This pop-up will take you on a journey through snapshots of my life. So I’ve put everything in there from a barbershop, similar to one my Dad used to own when I was a kid, and a Nintendo 64 as I used to spend hours in my bedroom playing GoldenEye with my friends,” Tinie explains.

“There’s also a market place showcasing some of my favourite designers, as well as my own brand What We Wear because I used to go to the market to buy clothes! There’s also a Morley’s Chicken Shop because that was the spot in south London for me and my friends.”

Later opening to the public over the weekend of April 8th (10am-7pm) to 9th (10am-late), the launch will see Tinie DJing on the opening night, alongside his official tour DJ and Capital Xtra presenter, DJ Charlesy.

Those in attendance can expect to shop Tinie’s What We Wear brand and YOUTH merchandise available, with participation from brands including Bacardi, Morley’s Chicken Shop, MTVUP! and Supermalt to name a few.

In other Tinie news, he has just released the visual to the single, ‘Chasing Flies’. Featuring rapper, Stoner, the video is described as a snapshot of contemporary British youth culture overcoming adversity.

Directed by Emil Nava, with Tinie as Executive Producer, the visual tells Stoner’s story, as he battles to pursue a music career after losing his way as a teenager. The issues raised reflect one of YOUTH’s key messages, ‘that people should believe that they can overcome the challenges of their background to achieve great things’.

We’re loving the positive message Tinie is sending out with this latest project, as well as his continued want to nurture breaking new talent, shown through the features included on the upcoming album release. These include Jax Jones, Stefflon Don, Shift K3Y, Wizkid, Bugzy Malone and more.

YOUTH, the album is out on April 14th.
