Top Dawg Entertainment Plan Tour Following Kendrick Lamar’s New Album

August 26, 2014 | Daniella & Letisha Jones-Ellis

Members of the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) crew have had a busy 2014 so far and the hard work isn’t going to stop there.

It has been revealed that Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Isaiah Rashad, SZA and Ab-Soul will all be going on the road next year to collectively take their individual works on tour. Jay Rock said: “Be on the look out for us to come to a city near you. I think we got a big tour being planned for next year.

“I don’t really want to talk too much because I’m not sure of the specifics but be on the look out. TDE is coming to a town near you soon, world tour.”

So what will you be expecting to hear from this group of huge talent? Well, members such as Schoolboy Q, SZA, Ab-Soul and Isaiah Rashad have all released successful albums this year and Kendrick Lamar’s is soon to follow, so no doubt they will all be focusing on their popular solo tracklists. Although there aren’t many details surrounding this tour at the moment, there is a chance that Kendrick and Ab-Soul will be performing together following hints of them working on a collaborative project.

Now, Kendrick is ready to release the follow-up to his 2013 album, good kid m.A.A.d city so expect to hear the complete album – currently without a name – before the end of this year! “If I keep focusing on, ‘I need to make something better than ‘good kid’, it’s going to be just that,” he said. “That’s not challenging yourself. I don’t want to become that person reflecting on what has been done. What I’m doing now is the question. I’m only as good as my last word, my last hook, my last bridge.”

He goes on to say: “When I’m in the studio I’m looking for creativity I haven’t matched yet, a feeling I haven’t felt. It’s a high. When you look at people like Jay-Z, Nas, Dr. Dre, these people are established, but they love music and they love that high. You always want that feeling of creativity.”
