September 28, 2015 | D&LCongratulations to Zendaya Coleman who has taken another step towards inspiring young girls and women with her latest achievement.
The singer, dancer and actress is now the proud owner of her very own Barbie doll, which was immortalized from her 2015 Oscar’s look in Vivienne Westwood.
After weeks of preparation, Zendaya’s doll was displayed this weekend (Saturday September 26th) at the Barbie Rock N Royals Concert in LA. The benefit was hosted by Zendaya herself for VH1’s Save The Music and the star was certainly embracing such a huge stepping stone, not only in her career but also in life.
When referring to the whole process of receiving her own Barbie doll and not finding one that looked like her, Zendaya explained that this was the reason why she couldn’t connect with the iconic doll in that way.
“How times have changed,” said Zendaya. “Thank you Barbie for this honour and for allowing me to be a part of diversification and expression of the definition of beauty.
“Getting to visit the Mattel offices and see Barbie’s vision for the future… I was able to see how they plan to diversify, broadening the horizons and the image of Barbie, and make it more, you know, open. Can’t wait to keep doing amazing things with you.”
What an amazing project to represent diversity and helping other young lady’s speak their mind of a childhood experience at the same time.
Here’s to Zendaya!
